I am learning that I have to say "no" to good mom things as well as too many kids activities. In turn, I'm learning to be gracious toward other moms who have had to say "no" to me and the activities I invited them to enjoy with me, that they simply can't do right now. Like you said, they are all good things; they just can't all be done (and done well) in the same season of life.

In this season of raising our young children to be adults, I'm learning it takes TIME with my kids to raise them in the admonition of the Lord, and that time when my babies are young in my home is precious and limited. I can't afford to spend it on a crowded calendar - I need that "margin" time just to talk with them!

It also makes me excited about eternity. Adam was charged with "subduing the earth" before sin entered the world. He was made to do work (i.e. - pursue good activities) as part of God's perfect plan for his life. This means we (and our kids) will have all of eternity to pursue all kinds of work. I choose not to feel pressured to take advantage of every opportunity (for myself or my kids), because I know I will have all of eternity to write, create, read, learn to play the piano, and perfect my culinary skills. I have a whole list of people whose lives don't really overlap mine right now, but I wish we all had more time to go get some coffee together! I'll meet you on the other side one day for that latte, but in the meantime I'll read your blog.

Thanks for sharing your heart with us! And protect our time with our families. It's so important. I think too many of us (me included) and have fallen victim to the culture of busyness that surrounds us. I don't think that God intended for us to be so rushed and crazy. I wish I would have learned that sooner.

Thanks for the reminders. Thanks for being a voice to the truth.Ginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15231197848904182078noreply@blogger.com
