Glimpses of Home: Busy Birdcage

A sweet friend recently surprised me with the loveliest pedestal birdcage. I directed her sister's wedding and she thanked me in birdcage. It's so lovely. I can't tell you how much I love it.

I decided to paint it blue and put it in my living room. It's basically the only thing in our very-lived-in room that has no functional value other than prettiness. A girly spectacle that houses moss, a fake nest, and a chippy ceramic bird.

I should have known the bird would have a flurry a friends just an hour later.

Nothing here is sacred...

Or perhaps everything is.

Don't forget to enter the Padalily giveaway. Winner announced Monday!

  1. Very cute! That last picture made me laugh. :)

  2. Oh, my children would fit in perfectly here! It actually looks like they've been in your living room... tiny animals left to live amidst my decor IS their signature.

  3. Thanks so much for a Saturday morning laugh . . . and an eternal truth.

    Love you forever,

P.S. One of my Padalily's is already on its way to Indiana. Gonna make an unsuspecting new mom (and grandma) really, really happy.

  4. I love how our kids are so good at their own touches to our homes. They bring a good dose of real life, don't they?

  5. I love this! It's how I feel when I make my bed and discover that I've been sleeping with a bulldozer and a tow truck...literally. Kids are awesome, and I must say, I WANT A BIRDCAGE LIKE THAT!

  6. I think the birdcage is perfect!! I love it too!! If it was in my house, it would also be a home for other animals too!!!

  7. sacred the precious "flurry of friends"

  8. great post. i love how simply you said what is so true.

  9. *Love* that this found a true, cozy home in your living room. Love that little ones are enjoying it too. :)

Also, so not on topic, but I got new homeschool curriculum today and I'm *dying.* That's how great it is. :) Am I the only hs mom who thinks maybe next year I should reconsider, and then I open a box of curriculum on ancient Egypt and nearly scream with excitement? .... If someone had told me BK (before kids) that I would turn into this woman, I wouldn't have believed them.

  10. Ha, so sweet ;) Our house is the same...and I wouldn't have it any other way! 'Very lived in' is the best ;)

    Jamie :)
